If you want to make a difference for children and meet our criteria then you can be a Foster4Leeds carer. Fostering is sometimes demanding, but it is always rewarding and often fun!
We assess every application on an individual basis but here’s a list of things that we think are important when we consider your application:
- That you’re over 25 (or 21 if you have relevant experience).
- That you’re able to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
- That you live within 20 miles of Leeds city centre.
- That you’re healthy and fit enough to care for a child.
- That you don’t have any cautions or convictions against a child.
- That you have a spare bedroom big enough for a single bed, wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
- That you are enthusiastic and committed, but realistic about what you can offer.
- That you don’t have a dog on the dangerous dog list.
We welcome people regardless of:
- Your sexuality and sexual identity.
- Your gender.
- Your religion.
- Your ethnicity.
- Your relationship status.
- Your employment status.
- Your age (we don’t have an upper limit).
- Whether you own or rent your home.
At the start of the fostering process, we’ll talk to you about the skills and experience you have to offer and what you will need to provide. After you have registered your interest, a member of the team will get in touch.
If you are already a foster carer and would like to transfer to work with Leeds City Council, call us on 0113 378 3538.
If you have a Leeds young person in placement, we will match your current provider payments if they are higher than our fees and allowances.

We welcome applications from any ethnic background, religion and sexuality, and it doesn't matter whether you are employed, unemployed, married, single or divorced. The most important thing is that you have a spare bedroom and time to give to a child.
