First 12 months as a foster carer

A foster carer will have completed Skills to Foster as part of the assessment period which serves as an induction. Once this is completed, a foster carer can complete the Training, Support and Development (TSD) standards workbook.

The TSD standards covers statutory and mandatory training. The TSD also covers fundamental topics that supports foster families. The table below breaks down the training and references the TSD Standards to aid quality conversations between foster carers and supervising social workers.
